Crafting-A-Future (CAF) is a mentoring program that provides intensive education in craft media to high school students throughout the St. Louis metro area. The curriculum concentrates on the development of concepts and techniques particular to the field of contemporary craft.
Students work closely with local artists in Craft Alliance Center of Art + Design’s jewelry/metalsmithing, fiber, clay, wood and graphics studios to develop and exhibit a body of work in preparation of post-secondary education. In addition to their studio work, students connect with nationally/internationally known artists as well as their teen peers in the St. Louis area through exhibitions, lectures, and guest artist workshops. Finally, students learn about curating and installing an exhibition by creating a unique group show made up of their self selected work.
